Beatles fan wins trip to Liverpool

A RECENT graduate from local Tongji University is set to become an honorary Scouser, after winning an online quiz about Liverpool and the city's exhibition at the World Expo.
Cai Di, 24, will fly to the city in northwest England - whose natives are known as Scousers - next month and compete with 23 other contestants from around the world for the title of Your Big Year.
Winners will be given the opportunity to travel the world.
A devoted fan of Liverpool legends The Beatles, Cai said the day when he learned he had won the competition, October 9, would have been John Lennon's 70th birthday.
The two winners of the competition are expected to travel around the world next year.
Cai is preparing for the big challenge by learning about Liverpool's history, culture and economy. "Once I've decided to do it, I will spare no effort to do it well," Cai said.
Cai, from Guangdong Province, is currently looking for a job. Traveling to Liverpool will be his first time abroad.
The Liverpool Pavilion will celebrate its pavilion day tomorrow with performances of Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
