Bolaven gets stronger

TROPICAL storm Bolaven strengthened to a strong typhoon yesterday. Its center was 2,000 kilometers from Shanghai's neighboring Zhejiang Province by 2pm.
Moving at 15 kilometers per hour toward the East China Sea, it is expected to influence the city early next week, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said.
Wu Rui, a chief service officer at the bureau, said: "If it lands in Zhejiang, Shanghai should experience serious showers and gales."
