Bus service to stay

A public bus service that was set to be discontinued with the opening of an extension to Metro Line 16 has been given a reprieve due to pressure from students and teachers at universities in the area.
The Longgang Express Line B connects Longyang Road subway station to Hucheng Ring Road in Nanhui area in the Pudong New Area. It is popular with people who work and study in Lingang University Town.
However, with two new subway stations set to open before the end of the year, operator Shanghai Pudong Nanhui Public Transport Co decided it would no longer attract sufficient passenger numbers and announced its demise. Yesterday, the company changed its mind.
