Busy opening for Line 2 to Pudong Airport
METRO Line 2's extension to Pudong Airport was busy today, the first day after the line extended its service time over the weekend.
But air travelers with very early flights to catch found they still had to take other transport to the airport, as the first train leaves at 6:30am.
Significant rises in passenger numbers have been seen in the Chuansha area near the new extension. Metro officials said they would further extend the service time in the long term.
Meanwhile Metro Line 10 also reported an 80 percent surge in passengers a week after extending opening hours.
More than 6.5 million passengers used the Metro each day over the weekend. Operators expect that number to hit 7 million a day soon.
