Cameras snap bus lane trespassers
SURVEILLANCE cameras installed on Shanghai buses recorded 25 cases in which cars and other vehicles illegally occupied the bus-only lanes in one month since mid-August, traffic police said.
Shanghai police rigged cameras on Route 127 buses to catch bus lane intruders.
The bus lanes are off-limits to other vehicles during the morning and afternoon rush hours to keep bus service smooth and efficient, said the police.
But many vehicles are found occupying the lanes during rush hours, causing road congestions.
The cameras will be mounted on buses running on other routes to intensify the crackdown on bus lane invaders, said the police.
