Carriage boost

LOCAL Metro authority said yesterday that more than 1,000 new train carriages will arrive in Shanghai by the end of this year.
They will be phased into use on Metro lines 6, 8, 9 and the four new lines that are scheduled to be ready by then. The carriages can be arranged to make up more than 100 six-car and eight-car trains to help boost capacity on local services.
