Chengdu offers cards to lure tourists
THE Chengdu Tourism Bureau is offering 600,000 Shanghai residents a 1-yuan (14 US cents) sightseeing card which will give them free access to 11 tourist spots including the ancient heritage sites of Dujiangyan and Qingcheng Mountain until the end of the year.
The Panda Gold Card is a new tourism plan following the Dujiangyan bureau's program distributing 50,000 life passes to the two world cultural heritage sites to Shanghai donors who have helped with the reconstruction of the hard-hit city after last May.
The bureau plans to distribute 15 million 1-yuan cards nationwide, Labor Daily reported today.
Tourists can pick up the cards at designated outlets in Chengdu, register online and enjoy free entry till end of the year.
Tourists will be able to enjoy a general 50 percent discount at nearly all tourist venues in Sichuan in May, the anniversary of the earthquake.
