Chill from the north set to hit Shanghai

A NORTHERN cold front is expected to hit Shanghai tomorrow, bringing several rainy days, weathermen said yesterday.

Rain would last for three days, with cloudy weather returning on Friday, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said.

The highs will range from 11 to 13 degrees Celsius tomorrow to Friday; the lows, from 7 to 10.

Although temperatures won't be too low, gloomy conditions will make people feel chilly, forecasters said.

Today will be rather warm. The high temperature will rise to 16 degrees from yesterday's 11.3 degrees, but the low will be only 7 degrees.

It will be sunny to cloudy today during the daytime, and will turn overcast in the evening, said the bureau.

Yesterday the minimum temperature in four districts in the city dropped under the freezing point.

The lowest temperature was in Fengxian District: 1.3 degrees below zero - the first below-zero temperature in the city this year, according to the weather bureau.
