Chinese New Year begins with warm day
CLOUDY and warm weather is forecast for Shanghai at the beginning of Chinese New Year, which falls on Saturday.
Temperatures are expected to drop early next week, according to Shanghai Metrological Bureau.
Today will stay sunny — between 4 and 13 degrees Celsius. But tomorrow is expected to see a slight drop to 9 degrees. This is due to cold air from coming from the north,.
Saturday will see the higher temperatures return.
Sunday will be even warmer with temperatures forecast to range from 8 to 16 degrees. Drizzle is likely in some parts of the city.
A stronger cold front will hit Shanghai on Monday, bringing the highest temperature down to 7 degrees. It will be mainly overcast in the early part of next week with temperatures between 3 and 10 degrees.
Tomorrow’s cold air will bring some pollutants from the north into Shanghai. According to Shanghai Environmental Monitoring Center, the Air Quality Index will fall between 105 and 125.
Short-time moderate pollution (AQI between 151 and 200) may occur.
