City braces for sizzling temperature of 37C
THE Shanghai Meteorological Bureau issued the second orange heat alert this summer at 8:50am this morning, warning that today's maximum temperature may top 37 degrees Celsius.
The bureau has issued three heat alerts since Tuesday, two in orange and one in yellow, on a three-color warning system with red being the worst.
Today's weather is sunny and cloudy with the temperature in downtown Xujiahui area reaching 36.9 degrees Celsius at 11:30 am.
Thunderstorms are expected in parts of Shanghai tomorrow afternoon, the bureau said.
