City braces for snow and icy winds
THE city's temperature will drop below zero point in the next three days as the latest cold front dominates the area, weathermen said.
Sleet and snow are expected tomorrow and ice may form on roads tomorrow night, said the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.
It warned yesterday that local temperatures could drop by 7 to 9 degrees Celsius within 48 hours with a low of minus 1 degree in urban areas and minus 3 to minus 5 degrees in the suburbs.
Meanwhile, gale winds from the northwest will sweep through the city today at 61 kph in downtown area and 74 to 88 kph along the coast.
Today has sporadic drizzle with temperatures between 8 and 11 degrees.
