City enjoys warm and sunny day before two-day 'wet break'

TODAY Shanghai woke up to a warmer and sunny day with the temperature rising 3 to 5 degrees from last morning, according to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.

Most areas recorded their lows between 7 and 9 degrees this morning and the benchmark Xujiahui weather station saw its low climbing to 8.3 degrees in the downtown.

Thanks to the easterly winds in the city, the air quality was marked as "good" during the morning.

The mercury will keep going upwards this afternoon and the high is expected to hit 17 degrees today. It's time for residents to enjoy city's blossom under the warm condition and sunnier skies.

However, starting tomorrow, we are likely to have a two-day wet period with some showers at times dumped by a warm moist system.

The temperature will not change much in the rainy days and mainly range from 10 to 18 degrees between Thursday and Saturday. But after a weak cold front sweeps the city at the weekend, Sunday's low and high will be pushed down a bit to 8 and 16 degrees.
