City lets it ride with one-day Metro tickets

CITY Metro operator will continue to issue one-day pass tickets next year while the existing ones, issued shortly before the Expo, will expire by the end of this year.

The current one-day pass costing 18 yuan (US$2.63) gives access to unlimited travel on all lines, except for Line 13 which used to run inside the Expo park and has stopped service when the World Expo closed on October 31.

Also under consideration are two other options: tickets for consecutive days usage and tickets for multiple trips in a set period of time.

The one-day pass is ideal for tourists or long-trip travelers. However some complained the price is high.

Currently, the city subway passenagers either use single trip tickets or the public transport card which is also accepted for taxi, bus and ferry services. The city's Metro fares are on a sliding scale, with a ceiling price of 9 yuan and a minimum of 3 yuan.
