City opens first dedicated visa office for expats
SHANGHAI police yesterday launched its first dedicated visa office for foreigners in Minhang District to provide more convenient exit and entry services to expats living there.
The Shanghai Exit and Entry Administration Bureau said the office in Room 621 at 1100 Wuzhong Road was providing services such as prolonging residence permits, temporary residence registration, legal consultation and dispute resolution.
Expats can dial 52232161 for more information.
Police said the office had been on a trial run since last October and had handled temporary residence registrations for 640 people and extended 72 residence permits.
More Foreigner Service Offices would be opened soon to keep track with the increase of the city's expat population, police said. The next office is expected to open in Huamu in Pudong New Area.
