City raises ceiling price for car plates

THE city's transportation authority today raised the ceiling price for car plates as the January 17 auction approaches.
A total of 7,990 plates will be available this month.
The price for first round bidding was increased to 73,700 yuan, up 1.5 percent from last year's ceiling. The price was set according to the average car plate cost in the fourth quarter last year.
The average price for license plates was 73,687 yuan in December. Only 8 out of every 100 bidders secured a plate.
