City's first third-generation dual-source CT introduced by local hospital
SHANGHAI No.6 people’s Hospital announced to introduce the city’s first third-generation of dual-source CT, which can generate less radiation but have better imaging effects for people with coronary heart diseases.
All computed tomography, CT scan, uses x-rays to quickly create cross-sectional pictures of human body. But a dual-source CT scan uses two x-ray sources at the same with a much quicker speed, which imposes only one tenth of radiation but creating sharper images.
Ordinary CT needs patients to stay a low and stable heartbeat during check, so most patients have to take medicine beforehand and some patients still fail the check due to their heartbeat. But the dual-source CT has no such request but imaging better coronary pictures, medical experts said.
In addition to heart disease, the advanced CT also can identify small tumor and other blood vessel problems.
