City鈥檚 warm reception for frosty date
WHILE yesterday was marked by solar term shuangjiang — which means frost descends, the city can in fact expect warmer weather through the weekend, forecasters said.
With a high pressure front dominant, bright skies will continue today, with a high of 25 degrees Celsius, said the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.
And the weekend should be dry and warmer still, with the high climbing to 28 degrees on Sunday.
However, clear skies will mean lower morning and evening temperatures, with the mercury down to 16 or 17 degrees.
Shuangjiang is a traditional term which does not usually directly apply to the city’s weather, said forecasters.
Shanghai’s first frosts usually arrive in mid to late November.
