Clear skies predicted for weekend

THE skies will be clear tomorrow, so go ahead and plan for the weekend.

Friday started with gray skies, showers and increasing gusts which pressed the mercury down by 5 degrees Celsius. The rains are expected to continue into the evening but weather forecasters ruled out wet days for the weekend.

The Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said the southern areas of the city received more rains. Between 8am and 1pm, suburban Minhang District recorded the highest reading with a rainfall of 21.4 millimeters, while Songjiang, Qingpu districts and the Pudong New Area saw rainfalls ranging from 10 to 15 millimeters. Rainfalls in the other areas were below 10 millimeters.

The showers are likely to weaken tonight and taper off tomorrow. But there will be no increase in temperatures and the high will remain at 22 degrees. But the city will be affected by a high pressure for 4 to 5 days, starting Sunday.
