Coach driver dies in truck smash

A TOURIST coach driver was killed yesterday morning when his vehicle was in collision with a truck in downtown Huangpu District.
Eight people were injured in the accident, including the truck driver and seniors onboard the bus.
Most of the injured suffered slight injuries, mostly cuts and bruises.
Seniors taken to hospital afterwards were reported to be in a stable condition later yesterday.
The accident happened about 7:15am at the intersection of Yan'an Road and Chengdu Road, beneath the multiple elevated roads.
The bus was in collision with the truck as it approached Yan'an Road, said a witness.
There were more than 10 senior citizens onboard the bus, which was on a three-day trip to neighboring Jiangsu Province.
The bus driver was thrown from the vehicle and the truck careered into greenery, smashing traffic lights.
The bus driver was pronounced dead in hospital.
Police are still investigating.
