Cold again today after first snow of city's season

THE first snow of the season was seen yesterday in part of Shanghai, especially in the Pudong New Area, though it was not heavy and did not last long.

The city is expected to stay very chilly today, with a low of zero downtown and a high of 6 degrees Celsius, then warm up just a little later in the week with a chance of rain before plunging again on Sunday. Today is forecast to be cloudy and ice may show up in part of the city, said the Shanghai Observatory.

Drizzles, along with a slightly warmer air stream, should affect the city tomorrow, with the low rising to about 4 degrees Celsius and the high about 11.

The weather should be overcast and drizzly on Friday, with a low of 7 degrees Celsius and a high of 9, with a similar day on Saturday.

Shanghai shivered yesterday with a daytime temperature of only 4.7 degrees Celsius, lowest of the season. The gusting winds just made people feel even colder, said the observatory.

Meanwhile, part of the city, especially in Pudong, witnessed the first snow in the season yesterday although it was not heavy and did not last long.
