Cold front set to lower temperature next week

A strong cold front from the north is set to bring down temperature, rain and gales on Tuesday in Shanghai whose air was polluted yesterday with the issue of a yellow fog alert yesterday morning.

The city will see the highest mercury forecast to drop 5 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and 10 degrees on Wednesday from a high of 28 degrees on Monday, according to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.

Yesterday’s highest temperature hit 28.2 degrees. The weekend should be sunny to cloudy, while rain is predicted on Monday and Tuesday.

The city’s air was polluted yesterday following 26 consecutive days with excellent or good air quality. A weak cold air from the north brought PM2.5 particles while a weak wind and low pressure led to the concentration of the particles, the city’s environment monitoring center said. PM2.5 refers to airborne particles smaller than 2.5 micrometers in diameter.
