Cold, wet weather this week
SAY goodbye to the warm weather - rain is expected to fall for at least the next four days, and after that the sun is still not expected to return any time soon, weather forecasters said yesterday.
As a cold front sweeps down from the north, temperatures will fall. The maximum temperature will range between 7 and 9 degrees Celsius until Wednesday, with lows of 4 or 5 degrees, said the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.
The wind will be strong today, blowing at up to 49 kilometers per hour downtown.
The rain is expected to stop on Thursday afternoon, but overcast skies will cloud the city for the following couple of days. The mercury will rise for a bit on Thursday and Friday, with highs between 9 and 11 degrees, and lows between 5 and 7 degrees.
The cold front stopped the city from welcoming an early spring. Technically, spring is thought to have arrived when daily average temperatures rise above 10 degrees for five consecutive days.
