Compensation for late cabbies
THE Shanghai Qiangsheng Taxi Co, the city's largest taxi fleet, said yesterday that the company will compensate passengers if drivers arrive late for car-booking services.
If a cab arrives five minutes behind schedule, passengers will be paid 20 yuan (US$3), the company said. The taxi fleet also said they will refund the taxi fare if passengers find drivers smoking in the cab. Qiangsheng has more than 13,000 cabs following a merger with another taxi company last month. Shanghai has about 50,000 taxis.
