Cool, showery start to week
THE lingering influence of Typhoon Soudelor is set to bring a cool, wet start to the week, forecasters said yesterday.
Soudelor weakened to a tropical storm yesterday morning as it moved northwest, but its wake will affect city weather through Wednesday.
Yesterday, parts of Shanghai saw some brief downpours but no strong winds.
The influence of the typhoon saw the high barely reach 30 degrees Celsius — well down on the recent heatwave when the mercury passed 38 degrees some days.
The Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said that the city will remain under the influence of Soudelor’s peripheral wind flows until Wednesday.
Today will be mostly overcast with some showers or thundershowers at times.
Tomorrow morning is likely to be clearer but thundershowers are again expected in the afternoon.
Wednesday should be cloudy with a few brief showers later.
Temperatures during these three days will range from 27 and 32 degrees, said forecasters.
Thursday should also be showery and overcast, though temperatures will climb to 33 degrees.
