Cop hitter jailed

A MAN operating an unlicensed taxi was sentenced to 21 months' prison yesterday for hitting a police officer, who held on to the car's hood for 3 kilometers. Xu Jie sped up his car to avoid a police check near Shanghai South Railway Station on January 26. Xu fled after pursuing police caught up with him, but was nabbed a month later. Xu, 35, from Anhui Province, was released from jail in 2004 after serving one year.
