Cracked pipe cuts water to homes
WATER supply to several Shanghai homes was cut this morning when heat cracked a pipe in Pudong New Area, the water authority said today.
Two water supply trucks were sent to Bei'ai Road near Yanggao Road S. this afternoon in case of water shortages. The number of affected households was unclear.
Guo Yongping, media officer of Shanghai Pudong Veolia Water Co Ltd, the water supplier for Pudong, said the emergency crew had rushed to the area and the 20-centimeter crack should be welded this afternoon.
Not many households suffered water cuts, although the pipe was not far from a residential area, Guo said.
"The cracked pipe is a conduit but the main water pipe was intact," Guo told Shanghai Daily this afternoon. "Only a few households were affected."
