Drunken brothers 'punched policeman'

TWO drunken brothers who punched a policeman during a traffic dispute have been detained, officers said yesterday.
Last week, the older brother surnamed Pu fell off his motorcycle while riding on Liuxiang Road near Fengrao Road in the suburban Jiading District, police said.
Witnesses called the emergency services as Pu's face was bleeding. But Pu, who witnesses said reeked of alcohol, accused the traffic officer who attended the scene of letting the driver responsible for the accident go.
However, there was no second vehicle involved when Pu fell, witnesses said.
When the officer radioed for back-up, Pu called his brother. Once reinforcements arrived, the Pu brothers, both of whom were drunk, started to push officers. One officer was punched on the head during the fracas, police said.
Investigations continue.
