Dry days through to Sunday

DRY though often cloudy weather is expected for most of the rest of this week, forecasters said yesterday.

However, some afternoon thundershowers are possible on Sunday, with a dip in temperatures, said the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.

Yesterday was the seventh high temperature day this summer, with a yellow alert issued at 11:45am for the 36.3 degree Celsius high.

Today should also be hot, with some cloud.

The city will cool down a bit from tomorrow through Saturday, with the highs around 32 and 33 degrees due to the increasing easterly flows.

Rain on Sunday will bring the high down to 31 degrees, said forecasters.

Tomorrow is solar term liqiu — the start of autumn, although autumn in Shanghai is still some way off.
