Extra trains will cut subway waiting times

THE waiting time between trains during rush hour periods on the northern section of Metro Line 3 will from September be cut by a third to 10 minutes, the subway operator said yesterday.
The increased frequency will be made possible by the addition of five trains to the fleet serving Line 3, Shanghai Shentong Group said. The arrival of a further 30 trains, which will be put into operation on Lines 3 and 4 before the end of the year will reduce the waiting time still further, to between seven or eight minutes, the company said.
