Ferry services canceled due to strong winds

Strong winds from Typhoon Neoguri forced the suspension of ferry services from Shanghai to Chongming and Zhousand islands this morning.

Wind speeds reached up to 75kph, or level nine on a 12-tier scale, at the mouth of the Yangtze River. They were accompanied by waves as high as three meters, according to the Wusong Marine Bureau, which initiated emergency measures last night to ensure the safety of vessels in its administrative area.

Ferries will resume once the wind speed drops to a reasonable level, the bureau said.
