Flights to and from Beijing canceled, delayed
SOME 60 flights were canceled and many delayed between Shanghai and Beijing today because of severe thunderstorm in Beijing.
The numerous flight delays are expected to continue until tomorrow afternoon.
Some 32 outbound flights from Shanghai and 36 arrivals from Beijing were canceled at the Shanghai Hongqiao and Pudong international airports, while nearly all the departing and arriving flights between the two cities were delayed, the Shanghai Airport Authority said today.
Many Shanghai-Beijing flights were delayed for over five hours.
The thunderstorm began at 10pm yesterday and will shroud the capital city for the next three days.
Passengers are advised to check with airlines on their flights before going to the airport to avoid being stranded, China Eastern Airlines said today.
