Fog throws air traffic into disarray
SHANGHAI has been hit by fog and low clouds since late yesterday and low visibility has disrupted air traffic.
Local airport authority is advising travelers to pay close attention to flight schedule update and prepare for possible changes.
A fog alert was lifted at 7:40am this morning but the operation of the city's Pudong and Hongqiao airports has not returned to normal, authorities said. By 9am, 48 flights had been delayed and nine flights had been cancelled.
Incoming flights to the two airports were suspended in the early hours this morning, delaying and cancelling scores of flights and forcing some to land in nearby airports.
Flights to the cities of Xi'an, Changchun, Tangshan and Beijing are still postponed at 9am, according to xinmin.net.
