SHANGHAI immigration police caught 10 foreign sailors using fake seamen's books this week. Six sailors on a Southeast Asian ship were found using fake documents on October 17; another four aboard a Libyan-registered ship were caught yesterday afternoon.
They also falsified their entrance and exit records in the books to mislead their employers about their work experience in order to receive higher salaries.
