Frequent showers and thunderstorms

THE city will see frequent showers and thunderstorms this week, forecasters said yesterday.

A mixture of cloudy and sunny weather is expected today, but thunderstorms will hit the city tonight, according to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.

The mercury will reach a high of 28 degrees Celsius from a low of 20 degrees today, and the air quality should be good or excellent through the day.

It will be cloudy or overcast and very humid for most of tomorrow and Wednesday, and short showers or thunderstorms are expected.

On Wednesday, it will be cloudy or overcast with brief showers in some areas in the afternoon. The temperature should range between 21 and 29 degrees.

Light pollution is possible from tomorrow night to Wednesday morning.

On Thursday, the first day of the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, it will be cloudy or overcast, with showers in the evening, and the mercury should range between 21 and 28 degrees.

Showers are forecasted for Friday as well.

Yesterday marked the solar term mangzhong, which indicates the ripening of some crops. The period also features frequent rainfall.
