Get ready for some hot weather

TEMPERATURES in the city are expected to hit 30 degrees Celsius over the weekend with fine weather conditions, the local observatory said.

Shanghai's cloudy sky turned fine and clear yesterday under the control of high atmospheric pressure and the mercury climbed quickly, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau reported. The temperature reached 20 degrees Celsius at 8am and hit 27 around noon.

The fine weather, mostly sunny and cloudy, should continue over the next three to four days and the readings should reach 30 degrees from tomorrow, the bureau said.

Today is forecast to be cloudy with a high of around 26 degrees. The weather should be stable over the next few days and the readings should stay at 30 degrees from tomorrow to next Monday.

"There will be plenty of sunshine during the day and it is recommended that people use sunscreen cream," said Zhu Jiehua, a chief service officer of the observatory. However, despite the day-time heat, the temperature difference will be big and the mercury is expected to drop to around 18 degrees at night.
