Gusty wind blows, temperature plummets as cold front hits the city

THE rest of the week will be mostly cold and wet, forecasters said.

A strong cold front from the north started influencing the city today, bringing gusty winds and lowering temperature, with the high falling about four degrees Celsius to around 13 degrees, forecasters said.

Wind will start to get weaker from tomorrow morning, but the mercury will continue to plunge, according to the Shanghai Metrological Bureau.

Temperature will range between seven to 10 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

On Thursday, when the western festival Thanksgiving Day falls, the low is forecasted to be merely 5 degrees in downtown and 2 degrees in the suburbs. Under the Chinese lunar calendar, today is the beginning of xiaoxue, or light snow. The start of xiaoxue means the weather would steadily get colder.
