Heavy rain cools down a hot city
AFTER all that sunshine, residents will have a short break from the heat as thunderstorms and showers were forecast to sweep across the city last night.
But Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said the storms will weaken throughout today, stopping late tonight.
The accumulated precipitation may reach 50 to 70 millimeters in some areas, according to the bureau.
The heavy rains will cool the city down, reducing the high temperature by more than 10 degrees Celsius to 22 degrees today after a temperature roller-coaster this week.
Tomorrow will be sunny, with the high returning to 30 degrees. Clouds will dominate city skies on Sunday, sheltering the city from the scorching sunshine, forecasters said.
Monday and Tuesday are set to be cloudy, with the high remaining around 26 degrees.
