High-tech items to go on display for city’s science and technology week

THE city’s science and technology week will open over the weekend with a big event starting Saturday at the Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Center of International Sourcing on Zhongjiang Road.

Different high-tech displays such as machines for measuring PM2.5 air pollution, 3D printers and robots that can play chess with people will be on display.

Until next Friday, the event will offer on display items from more than 60 local museums that are participating. Some museums from other provinces will provide precious items like dinosaur fossils. Also included will be a display of precious sea horses, said the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission.

Residents can get the tickets from their subdistrict government offices, obtain tickets for free at the center by showing identity cards, or through the website http://shkjhdz.shkp.org.cn/2014/.

Visitors must take their identity cards and receive security checks before entering the center.

There are 842 scientific events and lectures scheduled during the week.
