Holiday travel
THE city's Metro network is expecting a record passenger turnout of up to 6 million at the holiday's peak. During the Monday through Wednesday festival, many tourists will be pouring into the city to visit the World Expo site. For intercity travelers, an additional 77 trains -- mainly to and from Beijing, Wuhan, Nanjing, Wuxi, Suzhou and Hangzhou -- will be put in operation during the three-day holiday, railway authorities said. Passenger turnout is expected to hit a peak of 260,000 on Monday. At the Shanghai South Long-Distance Bus Station, some 40,000 passengers a day are expected to leave and arrive during the holiday.
