Hongkou extends Wi-Fi street service

HONGKOU District has expanded free Wi-Fi services to most shopping, cultural and tourist areas across the district, officials said today.
Free Wi-Fi is available around Sichuan Road, benefiting shoppers, and visitors to libraries, museums and parks.
Users submit their mobile phone numbers to receive a password, said officials
The district launched the HongKouFree initiative last September to cover a 3.7-kilometer stretch of the Sichuan Road shopping street.
The facility is available in more than 10 shopping malls along the street.
Hongkou also set up 60 wireless hotspots on the street and launched an app giving details on shopping mall promotions, parking spaces and other information.
