Hop aboard: New bus has plenty of room
A circular bus route in central Lujiazui area got a cold reception from commuters yesterday, its first weekday of operation.
Only 50 passengers took the bus on its 52 morning runs.
The operator blamed the slack business on bad weather and scant awareness of the new route, which debuted over the weekend.
"Many people chose to take cabs to work due to the cold weather today," said Teng Guanmin, director of Pudong Bus Jinqiao Corp, the operator of the bus.
The 4-kilometer route has eight stops. A ticket costs 1 yuan (15 US cents), but it's free within two hours after you take the Metro or other buses.
