Hot, dry days for most of week

CLEAR skies and high temperatures are predicted this week, following Tropical Storm Nakri, though there could be thunder and lightning today.

Temperatures are forecast to climb back to the mid-30s and remain there most of the week, said the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau yesterday.

But the influence of Nakri’s periphery may still be felt today in the form of thundershowers in parts of the city.

After that, high pressure will dominate city weather, bringing dry and hot conditions.

Light smog is expected this morning, with the mercury reaching 35 degrees. The high will remain around this level for much of the week.

On Friday, easterly flows from the sea are forecast to bring scattered showers, which will push the temperature down to 33 degrees Celsius.
