Huashan Mountain woos Shanghai tourists

TOURISM authorities from Huashan Mountain in Shaanxi Province today presented 2,000 entrance tickets and 2,000 cableway tickets to the Shanghai Tourism Bureau for free distribution to local residents.
The tickets are worth 640,000 yuan (US$103,225). The officials said entrance to the mountain resort is 180 yuan each while the cableway ticket is 140 yuan.
The tickets will be given out to people at the intersection of downtown Huaihai Road and Ruijin Road from 10am to 6pm tomorrow.
Huo Wenjun, director of the Huashan Tourism Area Administration, said he hoped more Shanghai residents will climb the 2,154-meter-high rocky mountain, known as one of the five sacred mountains in China and famous for its steep cliffs and narrow paths.
The mountain has five peaks. Emperors of several ancient dynasties used to go to Huashan Mountain for Taoist rituals.
