A 10,000-square-meter illegal complex in Haiwan Town in Fengxian District was demolished yesterday, Shanghai TV news reported.

The complex, comprised of five buildings, is believed to have been the largest of its kind in the district.

Officials yesterday launched a campaign to eliminate 218 illegal structures built by 113 enterprises in the area.

The district government plans to demolish all illegal structures — about 3 million square meters — this year.

Meanwhile, Putuo District yesterday demolished illegal structures covering about 170,000 square meters in Hongqi Village.
