Integrated transport app coming
THE transport commission is working on a new smartphone application that will offer real time information of all public transport services.
During the 12th five-year-plan (2011-2015), several transport service applications were introduced for bus and Metro services, traffic information for expressways and parking.
“The new app will provide a more integrated service,” said Ren Weili, director of the commission’s science, technology and information department.
Ren said the transport service providers had collected a huge data of their own and that it took time to integrate them.
He added that the existing applications will not be scraped, rather they will be updated.
There are four transport apps so far — Shanghai Bus with real bus information, Shanghai Metro, which has an English option, Shanghai Road app for traffic, and another app for the 2,300 car parking spots in the city.
