Landlords must give ID info on renters to police
LANDLORDS are required to have their apartment and renters' information registered with police for the sake of security during the World Expo.
By signing a guarantee of security with local police stations, landlords are obliged to report suspicious or illegal conduct by their renters, a police official at the World Expo Security Work Conference said yesterday.
At the conference, the police released details of more regulations and restrictions.
The police are now keeping an eye on the selling of potential weapons by installing cameras on the city's 6,000 knife shops.
People who want to purchase knives should expect to have their information registered with police.
Registration is also needed for purchasing fireworks, toxic pesticides and rat poisons.
The police are encouraging residents to report violators via a new hotline: 2202-3991.
