A 17.4-square-kilometer area along the Huangpu River from Lupu Bridge to Xupu Bridge (the green section in the map), is to be developed with luxury tourism and business hotels and upscale commercial and residential buildings, as well as company compounds for high-tech and research centers.
The area is mainly inside Xuhui District.
A 27.3 square-kilometer region between Wuzhou Avenue and Wusong Port (the yellow section in the map), which is at the mouth of the Yangtze River, is planned to be the center of the city's shipping services.
