Line 2 to Pudong airport extends hours
PASSENGERS with early or late flights to catch at Pudong International Airport will have an easier trip when Metro Line 2 extends its service hours from Saturday.
The new schedule along the subway's eastern extension line, between Guanglan Road station to Pudong Airport station, will run from 6:30am to 9pm each day, while the current service opens from 9am to 4pm.
The subway operator said the line is expected to be "the busiest among Shanghai's 11 lines" after the schedule change.
Line 2, the only subway linking city's two international airports in about two hours, handles about 1.2 million passengers a day. That number is expected to surpass 1.3 million, said the operator.
Intervals between trains to the airport will be cut to about 8 minutes and a half from more than 10 minutes as extra trains are added.
But the operator reminds users that the extension line is likely to suffer delays because it is still on trial.
