Line 9 back to normal tomorrow
SHANGHAI'S Metro Line 9 will resume its normal operation schedule starting from tomorrow after workers finished the emergency repairs on a damaged elevated section of the line, said local Metro operator today.
The line will resume running from Songjiang Xincheng station, its west terminal, to Yanggao Road M. station in the east terminal in Pudong New Area. The interval time will be set between six to seven minutes.
Currently only part of Metro Line 9 trains run all the way between Songjiang and Pudong. Some trains would end and drop passengers at Zhongchun Road Station, who would be picked up by shuttle buses to continue their trips. Intervals between trains could last as long as 12 minutes.
The shuttle bus service will be cancelled from tomorrow.
Metro operator temporarily changed the operation schedule after a Sunday accident in which a steam autoclave in a factory exploded nearby one of Line 9's section in suburban Songjiang District.
The top piece of the broken machine crashed into a concrete support on an elevated section of the line, which led to the closure of six stations along the line in the affected area.
