Loop service for Lujiazui business area
A loop bus service started operation with a fleet of eight electric buses in the Lujiazui financial hub yesterday to make it easier for people to commute from their offices and the subway or between buildings in the area.
The red buses marked “Financial City Line” links the Metro Line 2 stations of Lujiazui and Dongchang Road, the Oriental Pearl Tower, the Shanghai Center, the Jin Mao Tower, World Financial Center, and the buildings of the China Minsheng Bank Building, the Ping’an Bank and the Development Bank of Singapore.
A fully-charged bus can run 240 kilometers. It sets out every eight to nine minutes in non-peak hours and every two to three minutes during rush hours between 7:30am and 8:30pm.
The new line is part of an effort to make Lujiazui more pedestrian and tourist friendly following complaints about insufficient and inconvenient public transport in the area.
The “Financial City Line” was introduced four years ago. It now has four lines and serves 4,600 people every day.
